Try Out Pilates Supplemental Training
The Bellicon mini-trampoline is quickly becoming an incredibly useful and popular accessory for a wide range of Pilates workout routines. The reason is simple: The Bellicon is a great supplemental device for more traditional Pilates’ mats and larger exercise equipment. The “Bellicon Bounce” is intuitively fun; it enhances “proprioception” (one’s sense of spacial positioning and “kinesthesia”), and helps with internal balance and limb co-ordination. The Bellicon “motion”, when integrated into regular Pilates’ routines, not only makes them more fun and exciting, but also serves to stimulate and activate the deep, stabilizing muscles of the body–in particular, the muscles of the legs are strongly activated.
In an increasing number of Pilates classes (including “Athletic Pilates”), the Bellicon mini-trampoline is used at the onset during the warm-up phase. The goal is to activate the body’s circulatory system and fat burning response. Throughout this phase, “body awareness” exercises may be done while standing and bouncing slightly on the Bellicon. At this point, participants may verbally be guided “through” their bodies; they may also be encouraged to focus on breathing correctly and ideal positioning of the pelvis, ribs, shoulders, neck and throat. Furthermore, participants will be encouraged to “mobilize” the spine in a variety of positions.
The core pilates training phase typically follows, involving a range of sitting, standing, and lying positions–all performed on the Bellicon mini-trampoline, rather than the traditional mat. Often times, these positioning exercises can take place for up to forty minutes. The Bellicon is frequently used during the final Pilates workout phase to supplement a lengthening component.
The Bellicon Rebounder is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, and qualified teachers can easily adjust exercise intensity and pace to any given individual’s health situation.
To conclude: The Bellicon isn’t only fun, but it can also function to generously supplement very health- orientated types of training–such as Pilates. The Bellicon–like Pilates–works to strengthen the body from the inside out!
